This cabbage fry is for all those readers who request for veg Indian food recipes that are quick to make and healthy.
This Andhra style veg recipe works best when you are in a rush and have to fix a quick nutrition rich meal. Cabbage fry fits the bill and you have a super satisfying stir fry side dish to go with rice, pepper rasam and papad.
Ingredients:
- Cabbage, chopped – 2 cups
- Chana dal – 4 tbsp
- Green chillies – 4
- Salt – as per taste
- Ginger, finely chopped – 1/2 tbsp
- Garlic, finely chopped – 1/2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tbsp
- Curry leaves – 1/2 spring
- Turmeric powder – pinch
Method:
- In a Microwave bowl, add chopped cabbage, chana dal and 1/2 cup water and keep it in microwave oven for 10 Min’s.
- Once it done, drain water and keep it aside.
- In a pan, add oil.
- Once oil becomes hot, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, chopped ginger, chopped garlic and green chillies saute them for 1 min.
- Add boiled cabbage and chana dal and stir it well.
- Cover the pan with lid and let it cook for 8 min. in low flame.
- It cooks to soft.
- Add turmeric powder and salt, stir well.
- Switch off the stove and take the curry into the serving bowl.
Notes :
- I generally use, chopped ginger and garlic in this curry, if u want u can use ginger garlic paste.
- Instead of using microwave, In a vessel, add cabbage, chana dal, 1 cup water, turmeric powder, little salt and cook till cabbage is half cooked. Drain the left over water and use.
If u want to add more spicy to curry at-last, u can add red chilli powder, only thing is the curry color changes to little red.
